In December, children of the SOS Children's Villages Tashkent, Samarkand and Khorezm received a parcel from US, which had their portraits in it!

Ben Schumaker, founder of the American charity project, "Memory Project" and his team sent 220 portraits, which were painted by US artists during 2020. Some are experienced painters and some are aspiring art school students. We sent to the artists, photographs of the children and some information about the child's name, how old he/she is and what his/her favourite colour is. Some of the artists used the child's favourite colour when painting his/her portrait or as the background.

The artists who participated in this project showed their attention and care for children. For a year, they looked at the photograph of the child they were drawing - they studied the colour of the eyes and hair, the shape of the face and every corner of the lips raised from the child's sincere smile. Having received their portrait, the children also saw the author who painted it. Many artists left their photo and their wishes for the children on the back of the portraits.

This project is another step towards the realization of children that they are loved, they believe that every child is important and significant, regardless of social status or nationality. The portraits, which were painted by girls and boys from another part of the world, tell about friendship and attention to each child. During the presentation, the children happily looked at their portraits, recognized themselves in a new way and shared their impressions and smiles with each other.
